Walrus
Bar, Manchester |
 |
Walrus
became the latest addition to the Northern Quarter’s vibrant
bar and food scene when it opened its doors in December 2007. The
new venue on High Street aims to bring to the already thriving district,
a funky, design-led environment, in keeping with the areas laid
back aesthetic, but with the added polish to put it at the forefront
of Manchester’s bar scene.
|
The
highly individual and psychedelic look of Walrus has been devised
by the genius of Bernard Carroll, the designer responsible for creating
the look for some of the city’s most innovative bars and restaurants.
Bernard’s projects to date include; Reform, Panacea, Piccolino,
Sugar Lounge and Ampersand.
Bernard
calls Walrus, “My most exciting project to date”. |
The venue
spreads across two floors and the feel is colourful, eclectic and
stimulating; with design elements such as the wallpaper, coloured
rubber flooring and lighting having been sourced from across the
globe. The overall look creates an atmosphere akin that of a gallery,
provoking a reaction and creating a talking point for customers. |
