Broken Toilets and Pretentious Bar Staff Ruin Hula's Potential
The prices at Hula are a little high compared to other bars in the Northern Quarter but they are quite nice drinks though, ranging from standard beers to exotic cocktails. |
Service is where Hula is let down. The service was so bad on our visit that a group of us left. You know that pretentious tendency some bar staff have if they feel they are working somewhere 'cool'... well Hula was full of it! |
It was actually a little dead when we visited (8pm on a Saturday in the summer) and, when there are less people in, you can just see the flooring that clearly shows you're in a dank basement. |
The decor is quirky and vibrant on the walls, yet dire if you look at the floor. |
The toilets were broken when we went so they were directing people to other bars to use the toilet. I heard from someone afterwards that this wasn't a first. |
Overall, Hula has the potential to be something interesting, like a dirty dive that has character but, mainly due to the awful service, I would avoid this place in future. Maybe go in after work before the pretentiousness kicks in at night. |
