The Briton's Protection has stood proudly on the corner of Great Bridgewater Street and Lower Moseley Street since 1806.
Famed for its enormous whisky collection - there's over 200 hundred to choose from, ranging from Bells Scottish Whisky and Jim Beam Bourbon to the prestigious Johnnie Walker Blue and the highly acclaimed Middleton Very Rare - The Briton's Protection is a must visit for whisky connoisseurs and real ale fans.
Being located opposite the Bridgewater Hall, The Briton's is popular with musicians from both The Halle and BBC Philharmonic orchestras as well as theatre goers alike.
The Palace Theatre and Manchester Central, with its International Conference Centre, are also only a stone's throw away whilst the tram stop at G-Mex is just across the road and connects Old Trafford and The Lowry in just 5 minutes.
Voted 'Best Pub in Manchester' by Pride Of Manchester members in 2008-09 and 2009-10, The Britons Protection is the first port of call for many tourists looking for a real taste of Manchester life.

The homely tardis-like interior boasts six inviting rooms, two of which offer roaring fireplaces which add to the ambience during Manchester's harsh winters.
A large mural of the Peterloo Massacre stands proudly on the walls - the only place in Manchester to commemorate the 1819 protest for parliamentary reform which took place just outside the Briton's front door, in which 15 demonstrators were killed and 700 more injured by the sabre-wielding cavalry who charged the 80,000 strong crowd.
The small bar area at the front of the building deceptively hides the size of the pub whilst at the same time offers a great place to meet new friends and admire the huge whisky collection.
Two separate larger rooms at the back of the pub offer comfy seating arranged around the warmth of the real fires.
A large beer garden is hidden to the rear of the pub and remains open all year round to allow smokers to catch their fix if not the Manchester sun.
Upstairs you will find 2 function rooms available for hire, which cater for upto 150 people and also play host to society meetings and frequent music and comedy gigs.

Homemade pub grub is available between 11:30am and 2pm Monday to Friday with delicious options like Wild Boar & Pheasant Pie, Venison & Mushroom or the delightfully named Grunt, Gobble, Zoom & Coo Pie which contains wild boar, turkey, hare and pigeon in a brandy sauce.
Talking about brandy, there's also a great selection of the tipple joining the whiskey on the menu.
Additionally, there's 19 wines and Champagnes to choose from with the house Diamond Bay also available by the glass.
Cask Ales include Guinness, Tetley's, Robinson's, Jenning's and there's also at least one guest beer on draught each month from breweries like Allgates, Rossendale, Coach House, Howard Town, Cottage Brewery, Free B's, Moorhouse's and Hornbeam.
There's a pub quiz on the first Monday of each month, with food included, and a popular Old Time Musical Hall sing-a-long on the first Tuesday of each month.
It's not hard to see why The Briton's Protection has been voted Manchester's Best Pub two years on a trot in the Pride Of Manchester Awards.
